First morning

Yesterday I went out with a friend. Before he came I locked my suitcase. First time I ever bothered about getting a lock to it – and use it. I remembered I forgot to take something out and when I tried to open the look it broke! So what to do – well a good time as any to learn to pick locks. Took me a couple of minutes but I did it.

Skilled lock-picking!

In the afternoon we went to Bandra West. So many people, so many shops and so many cars and rickshaws. Had lunch and a couple of beers at a nice pub.

Pitcher at Leopolds

After lunch we took a taxi down south to Colaba. There is so much to look at and so many new impressions I think I might have been a bit unsocial at times since I was trying to soak everything in.

Bullet holes from when Leopolds got attacked

After some walking we ended up at Leopolds. After reading Shantaram it was a have-to to go to Leopolds! Leopolds seemed to be a waterhole for tourist and non-indian people. We had some pitchers of beer. After eight the music got louder and some people started dancing.

Bar in Bandra

At about 11 we went back to Bandra West and ended up at another bar with a totally different crowd. The people here where more dressed up. The clothes was very western with short dresses and a bit of a cleavage. Somehow it reminded me about Nikki Beach with all these “posh” people. I felt very underdressed in my black trousers and white kurta and hardly any make-up and probably I looked very outta place – but hey since when have I actually cared about that. The bar had a nice interior and the prices in the bar matched the other impressions. Some people where dancing, other sitting talking by the tables. It was interesting to see how well-behaved everyone was – compared to Sweden. No-one was disturbingly drunk and people weren’t bumping in to each other on the dance-floor even though it was crowded.

Club in Bandra

When the bar closed we took a rickshaw to a club and spent the rest of the night there, having some drinks and talking to people. It was a good night and when I got home I was asleep before my head reached the pillow.

My home for two nights

This morning wasn’t just as fun. With a banging headache I realized I overslept and it was not long before I went back to the land of dreams. When I woke up it was 2 o’clock. Crikey, haven’t slept for so long in years!!

I was still a bit hangover but feeling bad about staying in the room while in Mumbai so went to Juhu beach where I walked around a bit and had a coconut. and then to Bandra West, had a look around in the stands and a bit to eat.
