HonHanHen

September 2012 me and a friend went to the cafeteria at the university to met two women. These two women where the founders to a charity-organization that focused on girls and their empowerment. That organization had not been acitve for several years. Which where the reason to our meeting. I had found a article in the paper with one of the women saying we need a organization like that in Halmstad.
The four of us was now meeting for the first time to discuss the possibility of once again open up the organization. Me and my friend had one big change in mind though, instead of focusing on just girls we wanted to include boys as well. That was the start of HonHanHen.

We did some changes in the association and ideology. Put together a board. Spread the word about us and soon there where people interesed in doing volunteer work for the organization. We put together educations for our members, went out to colleges in town, went on seminars and educations, started a "mail-jour", made ourselves visable on internet and in the media, searched for grants etc.

It was a lot to do, especially as one of the founders and also the chairman in the board. But it also a lot of fun, it was interesting and educational and such an experience.

Shame is that since I will be leaving both Halmstad and Sweden it is not possible for me to be a involved in the organization any longer and today I resigned as both chairman and board member. I do have high thoughts though of the new chairman, the boardmembers and the members in the organization and know that they will make our dream come throw, to be there for the youths in Halmstad and work for their rights. Even if it is with a heavy heart I am leaving HonHanHen I will always be involved the organization one way or another and I will never forget all the wonderful and inspiring people I have met during this year and a half thanks to HonHanHan.
